Now the high-frequency output of the electroknife is isolated floating type, the high-frequency current no longer takes the ground as a loop, but through the negative plate flow back to the electroknife to form a complete loop, which greatly reduces the occurrence of alternative circuits, so it is safer.

The negative plate is a consumable product of the high frequency electrotome host, which is required to be pasted to the appropriate part of the patient. Generally speaking, the selection criteria for the negative plate paste site of the high-frequency electroknife include an area that is easy to observe, rich in muscle and blood vessels, and clean and dry skin, which should be as close to the surgical incision site as possible, and pasted on the same side of the surgical site; Metal implants, skin folds, scar tissue, tattoos, hair, joints and other parts are not suitable for attaching negative plates.

3.What are the precautions for the use of the negative plate of the high-frequency electric knife?

①Choose the appropriate negative plate

According to the patient’s body type, surgical site and surgical time and other factors, choose the appropriate size and shape of the negative plate. In general, the larger the area of the negative plate, the more uniform the current distribution, and the less damage to the skin. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the conductive performance of the negative plate is good and that there is no damage or aging.

②Paste in the correct position

The negative plate should be attached to a location where the patient has abundant muscles, few blood vessels, and is close to the surgical site. Avoid sticking to bone processes, broken skin, scar or hairy areas, so as not to affect the conduction effect and increase the risk of skin damage. For children, emaciated patients, or patients with special body types, special attention should be paid to choosing the appropriate paste position.

③Skin preparation before paste

 Before attaching the negative plate, the patient’s skin should be cleaned to remove oil, dander and other dirt. At the same time, ensure that the skin is dry and avoid using the negative plate in wet or sweaty conditions. For hairy areas, shaving should be done first.
④Ensure tight paste
When attaching the negative plate, ensure that it is tightly fitted to the skin without bubbles or wrinkles. Use your fingers to gently press the edge of the negative plate so that it is in full contact with the skin. At the same time, it is necessary to avoid repeatedly tearing or moving the negative plate, so as not to damage the skin or affect the conductive effect.
